As we all know farmers are the most important members of the society. And the problems faced by them shouldn’t be ignored. One such problem faced by them is stray animals entering and destroying their fields. So lets give them a helping hand with the help of our smart technology.

An eye towards Farmer’s major problem!

stray animals destroying fields

The major problem faced by the farmers is that stray animals enter their farms and destroy it without even the farmers having any clue about what’s happening in the field. We do have some outdated solutions to such problems but still those are not the perfect problem solvers. Having a fence around the farm doesn’t work because animals like monkey can hop up and enter the field and create a chaos. Farmer can himself cannot be present at the field whole day and night to look after the field. During hot sun and rainy season it is not possible for the farmer to be present at the field and scare the stray animals. So we require some smart solution to this issue. And to resolve this problem, we have come up with an alert device using AI and IoT technology.

Smart solution to the problem!

farm stray animal alert

Farm stray animal alert is a device which when placed in the field will detect the entering of any stray animal, and as soon as it is detected by the system an alerting WhatsApp text will be sent to the farmer or the farmer.

Along with the device a buzzer will also be placed at the field which will beep when any stray animal is detected which can scare the animal away. The major components used are object detection to detect the presence of any stray animals, a buzzer and the Twilio WhatsApp messenger. The programming language used is C language.

Project idea

The project info and source code is available on GitLab. Just select the components required and assemble them. Code for the components using C language and then the device can be tested by using the virtual hardware raspberry Pi.

So what are you waiting for? Have a look on GitLab and build an hands on project in just two days!
